Järvi conducted crisp musical material for orchestra newcomers. With ladykiller attitude, he encourages the orchestra during „Don Juan“ to the most sensual playing, maneuvering the swift strings and the exquisit winds through the delicate Strauss piece with his famous whole-body conducting technique. Through his suggestive gestures he gives just as much pulse and direction to the amorphous motivic network of the „Poème de l’extase“: The music is brewing and steaming like lava, the grand eruption announces itself repeatedly, until everything ends in a great noise. This is always well received by the audience.
